Transformice Wiki:Admin noticeboard
of Transformice Wiki
This page is only to be used to request things from admins. More general requests or comments can be made at the user noticeboard. For list of administrators, see TW:ADMIN.
You can report vandalism here, also review our TODO list or post in "admin requests" section.[edit] Admin TODO list
- We lost the deletion policy did anyone happen to save it? We lost it :/
- I think we need some community standards. In particular are usernames allowed to be mentioned in the main space under any circumstances?
[edit] Admin Requests
This section is for requesting changes that only admins can make such as editing protected pages, and changing protection levels. All users can request that their userpage be locked if it has been vandalized in the past or if they feel it may be vandalized. You can also report every vandalism here now.
[edit] RFA
Every admin take a look here: TW:RFA and comment Juze's nomination, please.

[edit] User rights changes
I think we should make some changes.
[edit] (New) Group: VerifiedUser
- Edit semi-protected pages (autoconfirmed)
- skipcaptcha (skipcaptcha)
- Have one's own edits automatically marked as patrolled (autopatrol)
- VerifiedUsers would be selected by bureaucrats in Transformice Wiki:User verify process.
[edit] Group: Autoconfirmed Users
Remove this crap.
[edit] Group: Administrators
- Additional deleterevision flag to allow administrators deletion of single article revisions if they contain M@D Content.
[edit] So...
All we need is to do small LocalSettings.php changes.
$wgGroupPermissions['sysop']['deleterevision'] = true; $wgGroupPermissions['VerifiedUser']['skipcaptcha'] = true; $wgGroupPermissions['VerifiedUser']['autoconfirmed'] = true; $wgGroupPermissions['VerifiedUser']['autopatrol'] = true; $wgGroupPermissions['autoconfirmed']['autoconfirmed'] = false;
VerifiedUser group would be opened just for every active user with valuable edits (bureaucrats and sysops will select people using "liberum veto" voting). Do you agree with my idea?
Demonical Monk 10:44, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Opinions
Definitely. Right now auto confirmed just means that you created an account so that's just about everybody and we get more vandalism from accounts than from ips. If there was a group between registered user and admin we could open up the main page templates again so that we don't have to wait for an admin just to change a version number again. Would we also like to give some trusted users rollback rights? And maybe there should be a bureaucrat noticeboard for this kind of discussion. --Mouserone 16:08, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Actually I thought about it some more and I think we should keep the auto confirmed group with the requirements being never blocked, on the site for 2 weeks, and 20 edits. This should be most users and they should be allowed to move pages and skip captcha. Then Verified Users should be able to edit semi protected pages and have rollback rights. New or unregistered users should not be allowed to move pages and will be the only ones using captcha. Thoughts? --Mouserone 18:32, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Most of wikies don't have CAPTHA for registered users as CAPTHA is needed to register, plus, rollback user group is not really given for anyone, it's only a matter of function available for users in sysop user group. Juze
18:35, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I know of may wikis that allow users rollback rights to non sysops and and have a user group for it 1 2 including wikipeida 3
- Oh, and logged in users should be able to move pages and probably add more extensions to upload file as only png, gif, jpg and jpegs are allowed. Here's a full list that should be allowed: png, gif, jpg, jpeg, ico, ogg, pdf, xcf, svg, mid, odt, ods, odp, odg, odc, odf, odi, odm. Juze
18:38, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I like the verifieduser group, it will make editing easier for those that contribute. Juze, I don't know why we need filtypes like ogg and mid, when there is no music in the game (yet?). --Spindle 18:44, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Transformice has music. The music is listed here [1] and can only be played by admins, although there is an option for them to play music from any site. --Supermouse 04:17, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah I don't know why we would need most of those extensions for this wiki. And I don't think new users need to be able to move pages. It's too much of pain to fix. --Mouserone 18:52, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Parser functions
It would be nice to have the parser functions installed for the maps infobox. You could have a line with logic to make a next/previous map link. Like:
<< [[Map{{#expr: 0 - 1}}]] [[Map{{#expr: 0 + 1}}]] >>
Would look like:
automatically creating for each page the infobox is on. --Squilibob 02:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- I know everyone wants parser functions. Mpcovcd owns the site and is the only one who can install things like that. I have asked him before and he tried but they did not install successfully. User talk:Mpcovcd#Parser functions. You can ask him again, but unless you know what the problem might be I don't know what else can be done. --Mouserone 02:12, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Banning Policy
I think we should talk about our banning policy. All of the admins (myself included) tend to be very fast to ban and tend to ban indefinitely. No doubt this is because of all the vandalism we have had in the past. But if you look at wikipedia or even most of the small wikis they tend to warn and ban for short periods of time before blocking a user indefinitely. I know that I have warned users without blocking them and have had no more problems with them (yet). I think changing our blocking policy is something that should at least be discussed. --Mouserone 17:10, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed, need some improvement here. Juze
18:26, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I wrote some documents but it was destroyed by wiki rollback -_- Someone else?
Demonical Monk 18:31, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- (Edit Conflict) Personally, as I'm a bureaucrat and a sysop on other wiki, we don't really warn users. It's just an instant block of 1-3 days, that's all. Also, a block means you can't edit the wiki, even your own talk page. If they want to discuss about the block, they have to use email. Juze
18:33, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- So you would block a new user for doing something like removing a deletion request template before a consensus is reached if that was his/her only infraction? --Mouserone 18:47, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I wrote some documents but it was destroyed by wiki rollback -_- Someone else?
I wrote up a quick policy here it's not finshed yet so let me know what you like and don't like. --Mouserone 19:36, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Ok this is a great example of why we need a banning policy. Everyone involved was just trying to help. I know the feeling of signing on and seeing that the entire wiki has been vandalized and there's nothing wrong with banning everyone indefinitely during an emergency but after that has passed admins need to step back and see if an infinite ban is truly necessary. --Mouserone 04:09, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Articles Page
Hey guys, I just noticed there was something wrong with the articles page. If you check the homepage, it only shows like 4 pages for some reason? I didnt know whats up so maybe you guys do. --Mpcovcd 16:09, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
- Are you talking about Special:AllPages If so the four articles listed are the first article, the midpoints and the last article. If you click on one of the first two it shows you all articles from A-M and clicking one of the last two shows all articles from M-Z. --Mouserone 16:16, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
[edit] New Bureaucrats
I've recently headed back into the new school year, so I won't be as active in the wiki as I was in the summer: it's probable that I will be forced into near inactivity. If so, there will be no active bureaucrats here, and any tasks needed to be preformed by one, won't be.
Therefor I've promoted Mouserone and Demonical Monk to bureaucratic status.
There were only 3 active, non-bot administrators. Both were chosen, firstly, because I knew a discussion or vote would inevitably single them out. Monk and Mouser are already a vital part of the wiki and I would be surprised if they abused their powers. In any case, they're trustworthy as administrators, and they're more qualified than I am to be bureaucrats.
Now, back to my math homework... --Acidifiers 03:33, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Kongrats to you both, just as I said yesterday to Mouserone that "You should be a bureaucrat, hence there are no active ones". But really, I thought of the same for Demo. Happy editing! Juze

- Sounds nice ;) Also we need to specify after what peroid of inactivity admin is taken off.

[edit] Vandalism
User Nazis has vandalized a few pages, but I reverted them. Take care of him please? -Spindle
- I blocked him for a week. Infinite block? --Mouserone 01:18, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
IP Address 173.178.63.175 has added account details to 2 pages. Do what you what you want with it :) --Spindle 07:33, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Done Revisions hidden.
Demonical Monk 08:54, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
I had to revert changes made by I TROL U ( 81.159.67.25) to these pages: Map 40 Map 90 Map 66 Bootcamp Melibelluleā Any additional action needed?
[edit] Speed Records
The Speed Record Policy now has all approved votes, and is generally agreed on. Can this become approved now, please? (also, possibly add a headline to the mainpage announcing changes), thanks. :) --Spindle 19:40, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Ban + SRP
Please ban This IP address.. I have to revert all his edits, and continues to add his record on one page. Also, the speed record policy is in full swing, yet no one knows about it. Is it possible to put a banner on the top of the main page? --Spindle 07:06, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Declined There is no proof the the ip's edits were not made in good faith. In a case like this you need to discuss the issue with the editor on his talk page. We cannot expect that every user will be familiar with our policies. In the future leave a polite notice on their talk page with a link to the policy. Then you can report here if they do not stop their disruptive editing. --Mouserone 19:50, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
- About the SRP I don't like the idea of a banner on the main page because it is a notice for editors not other visitors. Instead how about I add a link to it in the box that shows up when you edit a page? Would that be a suitable compromise? --Mouserone 19:50, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
- If that is at all possible, then yes please. --Spindle 21:59, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
[edit] No IP edits
Well, I was thinking that for a loooong time. Non-users who don't have an account most of the time make spammy or vandalism edits. So here's my proposal: Edits can be only made by users who have an account and not by random people who are identified by the IP address. --Mario Fan 123 20:46, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Per everything above. --Mario Fan 123

[edit] Links
[edit] Map 666
Following the style of the other maps, Map 666's actual link should be Map666, with "Map 666" being a redirect. Can this be fixed please? --Spindle 16:30, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
[edit] False Reporting
What about false reporting?I got banned for hacking when it was a glitch in the game >_> ---The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.143.235.87 (talk).
- We are Transformice Wiki Administrators, not the game's Administrators, or Moderators. If you have a ban you need to resolve, you'll have to message the Moderator that banned you in the game (if known), or another Moderator. --Spindle 07:32, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
[edit] Translations
Maybe we can translate the wiki? I can do Dutch for example. I have some experience with translating wiki's into Dutch. Pwned 20:37, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think it is needed. It is very much work and I think it won't add something special... - CirKel 11:12, 25 January 2011 (UTC)
- But maybe it is handy for people who can't speak/read (good) English. And besides that some people think it is fun to do it. Pwned 14:25, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

[edit] Page deletion request...
Could someone please delete http://transformicewiki.com/index.php?title=Rooms/Research/FR-v ? Room v regulars are not french, as most of us hang out in the EN1 server. See http://transformicewiki.com/index.php?title=Category:Room_research
Rooms/Research/EN-v is right, Rooms/Research/FR-v, not so much. --Bareno 12:58, 3 April 2011 (EDT)
- Oh, just noticed... jessica you ARE an admin... well, my point stil stands :p --Bareno 12:59, 3 April 2011 (EDT)
- ALRIGHTY. Well... Where to begin...
- Back when Transformice was first released, it had but one server. You may or may not know this, but I'll assume not for the sake of argument. When Transformice was noticed by 4chan, a number of people from the various rooms crammed into the French server in the associated rooms, such as "v" or "b". v happened to get far more attention than it should have, possibly in thanks to videos like Meet the Mouse.
Fast-forward ahead a bit. The Transformice team give Americans their own English server. What happenes to v's room? It remains popular, but apparently eventually dies out. Chances are, v DID exist on the US servers at some point, given the amount of 4channers there are across the Internet, but as it stands at this moment? Neither the French or English "v" rooms have had A SINGLE MOUSE in them in the times that I checked. So now you know what went through my head when I made those edits last night.

- Now. I'm labelling this matter unsolved for now, as I can neither prove nor DISprove that v ever existed, but went on the assumption that it only existed on the original, French server prior to the English server, but DO have proof of the latter. And don't worry, I'm not going to bitchslap you for undoing my edits. That would just be abusive and stupid. ;3

- Ah, I wasn't THAT far back, but I have been browsing TFM for about ~4-5 months, probably after the introduction of the EN servers. But, if you want to observe our room, most of the mice are easily on during the day... Most of the time 15-20 mice on. --Bareno 06:30, 4 April 2011 (EDT)
